Our role is to help you develop the physical literacy, athleticism, and mindset to achieve your goals. Using science-driven training methods, we’ll help you remain injury-free and perform to your fullest potential. Confidence, autonomy, and greater life enjoyment are the benefits of discovering what your body & mind are capable of.
Rugby S&C Group Training
Our Training Ground features our rugby-inspired programming, built to make you a stronger, more explosive, and more durable athlete for rugby. This ‘hard-hitting’ curriculum will feature plenty of compound strength & power exercises. Accessory exercises with higher rep ranges will also be used to add some body armour to your frame. This training aims to make sure you can run harder, and be more explosive and make you tougher to tackle.
This rugby-inspired strength and conditioning training is for
Women and men players.
From youth to adult.
From recreation and amateur players to players in the pro leagues.
What Saltus Does
We have designed a rubgy-inspired strength and conditioning program involving the weight room and speed work. When you come to Saltus, we will perform a complete performance test to measure key physical indicators and provide you with a detailed report. As your training progresses, we will be able to monitor and measure your performance improvement, which we expect to see on and off the field.
Increase your power
Power or acceleration is the ability to produce high force quickly. Great for exploding from the scrum, accelerating, changing direction and contact. In rugby, the foot-to-ground contact time is less than a second, so you must ensure you are exploding through your steps. Exercises used to increase power: Squat jumps, vertical jumps, and more.
Increase Your Speed
Speed is the distance covered at a certain time. Research suggests as playing levels increase (from amateur to professional), players get faster, correlating speed with one of the main factors of rugby success. Training methods using to test & increase speed: linear 5 – 40 meters, change of direction drills, and more.
Increase Your Endurance
With a rugby game lasting 80 minutes, a well-developed aerobic system allows athletes to move around the pitch with ease and helps with their ability to recover from explosive bursts needed in rugby. Training methods used to test & increase endurance are the Yo-yo test, 400m repeats, and more.
Increase Your Strength
One of the most important attributes of a rugby player is strength. How are you able to tackle & absorb contact and collisions? In addition, strength training helps to promote greater injury resilience and better speed. Exercises used to test & increase strength: Explosive Bench Press, Squats, Isometric Mid Thigh Pull and more.
HEAR FROM ONE OF OUR ATHLETES
I am loving training with SALTUS both in and out of the rugby season. The coaches are very knowledgeable and constantly push me. They provide programmes which contain a variety of exercises but have the perfect mix of speed, power and strength – essential qualities for rugby.
